International Composition Contest
The lifework of Carl von Ossietzky stands symbolically for the esteem of man's dignity and acceptance of personal responsability for the safeguarding of human rights, of peace policy, education end ecology. It adds to the endeavour of maintaining the values of life for future generations. The furtherance of musical culture can contribute to this effort.
This is the basic idea of the the 8th composition contest ''Carl von Ossietzky – Preis des uniChors'' which is announced by the uniChor (Choir of the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg).
A first prize of 800,- Euro (provided by UGO / Universityassociation Oldenburg) and a scolarship of 300.- Euro (provided by the Raiffeisenbank Oldenburg) are being offered.
Compositions can be written for: Choir a cappella, with or without speaker, vocal soloists, small ensembles, piano or a mixture of these options.
Degree of difficulty: easy - fairly difficult
Performance time: max. 10min
The compositions which will directly or indirectly deal with the life of Carl von Ossietzky may not have already been published or performed. There is no age limit. Composers are free to choose the content (style and choice of text).
The world- premiere of the prize winning composition will take place in Oldenburg in the summer of 2008.

Compositions have to be sent in triplicate with a commentary of the work and a closed envelpoe containing the name, adress as well as a short c.v. of the sender.
